Building Information

Joyner Library is a 280,575 square feet building which grew over many years beginning in 1954 with the construction of the original building. The west wing was constructed in 1974 and the new addition which doubled the size of the building was constructed in 1996. It was after the new addition was constructed that the library saw a need for a Building Operations department to oversee the maintenance, environmental controls, housekeeping, safety and security of persons and property in the building. The department is also responsible for the library’s shipping/receiving operation. Space planning is an ongoing process to accommodate the growth of the library staff and its services to meet the needs of a growing university population.
