ECU’s Joyner Library to host Earth Day tree planting
GREENVILLE, N.C. (April 14, 2009) — To celebrate Earth Day, the Green Task Force at East Carolina University’s Joyner Library will host a tree planting and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 22, at 10 a.m.
The Green Task Force will gather along with library employees in the wooded area near the Langford-Joyner clock tower to dedicate a tree in honor of Earth Day.
Committee Co-Chair Amy Gustavson and member Ginny Boyer will discuss the mission and charge of the task force: to research, propose, implement and promote green education and sustainable environmental practices in the university library environment; and to raise awareness of green initiatives in Joyner Library, other libraries in the ECU system and the local community.
Ross Boyer of Pamlico Turf Management in Washington, donated the Live Oak to commemorate the occasion. Dr. Larry Boyer, dean of Academic Library and Learning Resources, and Janice Lewis, associate director, will be on hand for the ribbon cutting.
All interested faculty members, staff and students are encouraged to attend the ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.
