The Special Collections Department at East Carolina University’s J.Y. Joyner Library is pleased to accept the Melvin T. Dixon Papers into its collection. The papers document the successful career of self taught architect Melvin T. Dixon (1923-2003), from 1954 to 1998.

The Friends recently held their annual banquet and silent auction. This year's event was held at the Murphy Center within Harvey Banquet Hall. Patrons enjoyed a wonderful evening and helped raise over $4,000 that will go towards supporting projects throughout the coming year.

Our annual book sale was held at the Willis Building in Greenville. Eager buyers helped the organization raise $2,000. Help support next years event by donating your unused books to the library.

J.Y. Joyner Library on the campus of East Carolina University has recently opened “The Rich Heritage of African Americans in North Carolina” exhibit. The exhibit, currently open to the public in The Verona Joyner Langford North Carolina Collection, located on the third floor of Joyner Library, will be open until December 22, 2005.

J.Y. Joyner Library at East Carolina University will hold its 2nd Annual Eastern North Carolina Literary Homecoming. The two-day celebration will feature keynote author, Jill McCorkle, and is inspired by Eastern North Carolina literature with hopes of increasing appreciation for literary traditions.
