Teaching and Classroom Support

Library Instruction

ECU Libraries is proud to offer course-integrated instruction sessions covering a myriad of topics relating to library research. Instruction sessions for online courses can be conducted through pre-recorded videos or live through SabaMeeting.

Embedding Research Guides

Research guides are sets of webpages for research assistance that include useful resources compiled by the librarians with ECU Libraries. They are arranged by subject and include some guides created for specific courses or assignments. By completing the request form (link the form), your librarians can embed these guides into your Blackboard course.

Embedding Liaison Librarians

Division of Health Sciences faculty can complete a request form to have your liaison librarian embedded into your Blackboard course to put students in direct contact with their librarians and to help them access library resources at the point of need.

Electronic Course Reserve

ECU Libraries provides electronic reserves through BlackBoard for items that are not available through an online database provided by ECU Libraries*.

There is no limit to the number of items you can place on electronic reserve. Faculty members are responsible for obtaining and keeping the copyright for all materials placed on reserve.

Due to copyright laws, all electronic reserves will be removed from the course at the end of the semester unless faculty members explicitly request they be continued for the following semester.

*In BlackBoard, ECU faculty may provide permalinks directly to these articles. Not sure how to best do this? Consult our FAQ page for creating stable links.

Requesting, Borrowing, and Accessing Materials

Can’t find a book or article in the ECU Libraries catalog? We can get it for you! Use Interlibrary Loan to request your material.

To give you equal access to materials, ECU Libraries can provide you with free document delivery, both to and from your location. Complete a request through Interlibrary Loan and choose document delivery.

Using Other UNC System Institutions

Through a cooperative borrowing agreement, you have access to materials at any UNC system institution.

The UNC Reciprocal Borrower page at NCSU has more information on this program.

Accessing Articles

You have access to the electronic databases at ECU Libraries from anywhere. Consult this guide if you are having trouble. If it doesn’t answer your questions, please Ask a Librarian.
