Joyner Library has been a selective federal depository library since 1951. Joyner Library’s Federal Documents Collection consists of approximately 200,000 paper titles, 575,000 pieces of microfiche, nearly 1,700 CD-ROM and DVD-ROM titles, and over 25,000 sheet maps. In addition, the library provides access to well over 500,000 online government titles through its Government Information Web Directory, links to sites such as FDsys, and via records in Joyner Library's online catalog. We currently select 68% of the items available through the Federal Depository Library Program. All depository items are available for the free use of the general public, and most print titles, maps, and CD/DVD-ROM materials can be checked out. Equipment needed to access all types of federal documents is available in the Government Documents area.
The collection includes publications from a wide variety of federal departments and agencies as well as laws, regulations, statistical resources, and Congressional publications, and is mostly organized according to the SuDocs classification system. The Joyner Library Map Collection contains a large selection of 7.5-minute USGS topographical maps, orthophoto quad maps, Operational Navigation Charts, Jet Navigation Charts, Global Navigation Charts, CIA maps of other countries and regions, nautical charts and other hydrological series, several geological series, the older Army Mapping Service series, and various other small series. Maps may also be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
All questions regarding the Federal Documents Collection should be directed to the Reference Desk on the 1st Floor of Joyner Library.
