Celebrate the Music Library's 35th Birthday with us on Tues., Aug. 25 (first day of Fall 2009 classes). Stop by for cake and candy beginning at 11 am.

Composition Contest

The Music Library is pleased to announce graduate composition student Rafael Valle’s piece titled “Fate” the winner of our 35^th anniversary composition contest. Scored for a twenty-piece chamber orchestra, the piece incorporates thematic ideas from the 1974 hit song “Kung Fu Fighting.” The music library was in its first year of operation when this song made its meteoric rise to the top of hit charts all over the world. The piece was premiered on Saturday, February 27, at 3 pm in the Fletcher Recital Hall as part of the 2010 NewMusic@ECU Festival. Listen online to a recording of the premiere.
