Music Library 35th Anniversary - Composition Contest entries due November 20
The Music Library is holding a composition contest for a piece celebrating our 35th Anniversary. The winning composition will be premiered at the 2010 NewMusic@ECU Festival and added to the Music Library's special collection. 9/11/2009: Music Library Resumes Regular Hours Sept. 19 (Note new, earlier date!): The Music Library is happy to announce the reinstatement of its normal operating schedule beginning Sat., Sept. 19.: Mon.-Thurs, 8a-10p; Fri., 8a-5p; Sat. 12-5p, Sun., 1-10p.6/30/2009
Online renewal problems: Update 7/20/09: online renewals are now functional. Patrons can always contact the music library for questions/problems related to the online catalog.
5/20/2009: Where did the audio/video/scores databases go?:
You can now search Classical Music Library, Classical Scores Library, Opera and Dance in Video in one easy step via Music Online. Find scores, video, and audio recordings all at once! The links to the individual databases on the music library's home page have been replaced by one link to Music Online.
What is Music Online? It contains over 50,000 audio recordings, 200 dance and opera videos, and 12,000 scores which you can listen/view from home with a pirate ID and password.
4/27/2009: Library exam hours: The Music Library is open regular hours through Wednesday, May 6. All Music Library hours and exceptions. Need a place to study later? - Joyner Library is open 24 hours during most of exams.

4/6/2009: Easter break hours: Thursday, April 9: 8-5 ; Friday-Saturday, April 10-11: Closed ; Sunday, April 12: 4-8pm. All hours and exceptions.
3/31/2009: Music Library reference area unavailable Sunday, April 5: The Music Library is hosting an event (donor recognition) this Sunday, April 5 from approx. 1-5 pm. The library will be open during the event; however, it may be noisy and the reference/group study area will be unavailable.
3/24/2009: The library catalog will be unavailable for some periods 5 am - noon on Sunday, March 29, due to an ITCS upgrade.

2/23/2009: New exhibit of Paul Revere Awards features the music scores chosen this year by the Music Publishers’ Association as recipients of an award established in honor of America’s first music engraver, Paul Revere. The award acknowledge publishers' efforts in creating art for the music industry.
The exhibit is presented in coordination with the ECU School of Music’s ninth annual NewMusic@ECU Festival, which could possibly feature some of next year’s Paul Revere Award winners.
2/16/2009: ECU students, faculty, and staff can now borrow video cameras (Sony DCR-DVD710 1MP, 25x optical zoom) at the music library. Video cameras circulate for 3 days, and may be renewed 3 times. We have also increased the loan period to 3 days and 3 renewals for our other a/v equipment: video iPods, portable stereos, microphones, and cassette player/recorders.

RISM Series A/II: Music Manuscripts After 1600 Annotated index and guide to more then 620,000 music manuscripts by over 22,500 composers in over 800 libraries and archives in 32 countries. Most of RISM is found in print in the reference section at MusicLib Ref ML113.I6, but A/II is only available online. More details.
10/8/2008: All library web resources will be available Oct. 11 & 12, due to ITCS cancelling its planned computing upgrade.
6/26/2008 Two new databases are available to library patrons: Opera in Video and Dance in Video.
Opera in Video contains opera performances, captured on video through staged productions, interviews, and documentaries. Selections represent the world's best performers, conductors, and opera houses and are based on a work's importance to the operatic canon.
Dance in Video captures dance performances from the stage and brings them directly to your computer screen through online streaming video-including dance productions and documentaries by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century.
5/28/2008 Call the Music Library Toll-Free Joyner Library now provides a toll-free number for its Ask a Librarian service. We encourage music patrons living outside the local calling area to call 1-866-291-5581 for assistance using music library resources and services. Just ask to be transferred to the music library for assistance.
5/2/2008 Grove Music Changes Grove Music is now part of Oxford Music Online and has a new interface. In addition to Grove, Oxford Music Online contains the Encyclopedia of Popular Music, the Oxford Dictionary of Music, and the Oxford Companion to Music. We are especially excited to have the Encyclopedia of Popular Music available online, because Grove's information on popular music was limited.
Visit the Music Library home page and click on "Oxford Music Online (includes Grove Music)" to see the new interface.
