ECU Alma Mater: what is it?  who wrote it?

The ECU Alma Mater is "Hail to Thy Name So Fair".  It first appeared in the 1940-41 ECTC Student Handbook where it was attributed to a student by the name of Harold A. McDougle ('44).  McDougle later became a part-time instructor in the Music Department at ECTC (1946-47) and a music teacher at Greenville High School (1947-48).  The lyrics to the second line of the song have changed from "Your joys we'll share" in the 1940-41 handbook to "Your joys we'll all share" in the present version.

Static URLs from databases don't work off-campus

Many databases include a static URL (or stable URL) to link directly to a specific article, recording, score, etc.  For these URLs to work off-campus, you need to prefix them with a piece which will prompt people to login and authenticate themselves as affiliated with ECU.  The piece is: http://jproxy.lib.ecu.edu/login?url=  Follow this with the static URL, for example: http://jproxy.lib.ecu.edu/login?url=http://www.jstor.org/stable/739740
