Introduction
The North Carolina Collection’s holdings of North Carolina newspapers on microfilm are listed in this guide. The guide lists two types of microfilm: titles filmed by the North Carolina Division of Archives and History, and titles obtained from other sources.

N.C. Division of Archives and History Microfilm
This series consists of eighteenth-, nineteenth-, and twentieth-century newspapers. The guide is alphabetized by city, which appears in bold type. In each individual city entry are that city’s newspaper titles, shown in italics. The year(s) refers to the issues that still exist. If a year is in brackets, it means most issues of that year’s publication are missing. The newspaper entries in most cases list the months and dates that exist on microfilm. The call number appears at the bottom of the newspaper entry. These are filed with an alpha-numeric call number system (shown below), where the abbreviated town and newspaper name appears first, followed by the reel number(s). For example:
