Marriage Register, 1851-1867, Pitt County Court House

An Act of Assembly in 1851 required that ministers and Justices of the Peace register, at the Court House, marriages they had performed. The Marriage Register in Pitt County covers the years between 1851 and approximately 1867. During the Civil War, it was difficult to maintain the records; many marriages failed to get into the record, while others were "batch-entered" after the war.

The register, located in the Office of the Register of Deeds, has been abstracted for presentation in list form. The records are divided into two files for faster loading time.
