Academic Library Services welcomes a new director

Academic Library Services (ALS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Larry Boyer as director of Academic Library Services. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Boyer to East Carolina University.
Since 1975, Dr. Boyer has been a librarian serving in positions in the federal government and academia. He comes to ECU from Appalachian State University where he currently serves as associate university librarian. Dr. Boyer worked in several capacities in law librarianship before becoming the head of the Main Reading Room of the Humanities & Social Sciences Division of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. in 1987. From 1994-2000 he served with the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
Dr. Boyer earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from UNC-Chapel Hill, a master of arts in Latin American studies from Tulane University, a master of science in library science from Catholic University of America, and a PhD in American studies from George Washington University. He is a member of the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Library Administration and Management Association, and the North Carolina Library Association.
Dr. Boyer will begin work and be available in Joyner Library on Monday, October 2, 2006.
The faculty and staff of Academic Library Services would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Darryl Davis for his service and leadership as interim director of ALS and Dr. Dorothy Muller for her assistance in this interim period. Their dedication and support during this period have been invaluable.
