Electronic Journals by Publisher or Host Please note: many of these publishers or hosts list all their available online journals, but only provide fulltext for journals to which ECU subscribes. If the host makes it possible to show only ECU's subscriptions, instructions for how to do this or a link to the list has been inserted. List of publishers and electronic journals hosts: - AIP Journals (American Institute of Physics): This link connects to the Institute's journals and to several Virtual Journals in Science and Technology. Users may browse by title, and retrieve articles generally in either HTML or PDF format. The Virtual Journals offer TOC alerts. From the journals page, users may also connect to Scitation, which describes itself this way: "Scitation is the online home of more than 100 journals from AIP, APS, ASCE, ASME, SPIE, and a host of other prestigious science and engineering societies." Users can browse or search journals using Scitation, and may register for personalized options.
- American Fisheries Society Online Journals: ECU subscribes to four AFS journals: Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, North American Journal of Fisheries Management, North American Journal of Aquaculture, and Fisheries (1984-1998). Researchers can use this search link to search across all titles.
- American Mathematical Society: This link connects users to the list of subscribed services, including several journal subscriptions and MathSciNet, Mathematical Reviews on the Web. Users may also access some freely-available electronic services from this page.
- APS Journals (American Physical Society): (fulltext coverage from 1913, depending on title) Journals available from this page include about 10 APS Journals and a link to the Virtual Journals in Science and Technology. (See AIP Journals above.) Users may browse or search journals, and retrieve articles in PDF or HTML formats. Access to tables of contents and articles is provided by Scitation.
- Blackwell Synergy: (fulltext coverage dates vary by title) Joyner has more than 600 subscribed and about 50 other available journals in the following subjects: Agricultural and Animal Sciences; Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Maths and Stats; Engineering, Computing and Technology; Health Sciences; Humanities; Law; Life and Physical Sciences; Medicine; Social and Behavioral Sciences; The Arts. - Caliber (University of California Press): The subscribed titles are shown from this link. ECU subscribes to about 16 titles, ranging from 19th Century Music to The Sociological Quarterly. The University of California Press has about 30 online journals, on subjects including area studies, history, law, literature and film criticism, classics, music, religion, sociology, and food studies.

- Elsevier:Science Direct: This database provides indexing for nearly 2000 journals and fulltext access for hundreds available for East Carolina University. Browse journals alphabetically or by subject area. Subject areas focus on a variety of sciences, with particular strengths in biological sciences, but include also business, communications, composition, economics, and other areas. Science Direct offers personalized profiles allowing users to create lists of favorite journals and to set up alerts.
- Haworth Press: Users may search or view about 220 journals published online, or view ECU's subscriptions at this link. Select the title of the journal, and then select the desired issue from the Table of Contents for that journal. Users will be connected to the issue's table of contents, and can view articles (if it is a subscribed title). Subjects of Haworth's journals include medical and social sciences, particularly library science, studies of gender and sexuality, business, gerontology and children's studies, sociology and social work. Haworth does offer table of contents alerts.
- Highwire Press: This division of Stanford University Libraries hosts journals online from a large number of academic, society, and commercial publishers (including, notably for Joyner's subscriptions, Oxford University Press and Sage Publications). View more than 200 ECU subscribed journals, more than 20 free journals, or almost 200 free back issues in the Biological, Medical, Physical, or Social Sciences. Users may search across journals for articles from the Highwire home page. Register to create email alerts, lists of favorites, and other personalizable features.
- IngentaConnect: This electronic journal hosting service allows users to search for articles or journals, or browse almost 29,000 journals alphabetically by title or by subject. There is not a way to limit to Joyner subscriptions, but look for the "subscribed" icon when browsing title lists. Ingenta also makes on-demand purchases of articles available. Subject areas include Agriculture and Food Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Biology and Life Sciences, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Economics and Business, Engineering and Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Medicine, Nursing, Philosophy and Linguistics, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology and Psychiatry, and Social Sciences. - Lawrence Erlbaum & Associates: ECU's subscriptions are shown from this page, and represent about 10 titles among about 90 total journals. The subscribed journals are from the fields of Education, Communication, Psychology, Math, and Technical Writing. The publisher's primary emphases in its online journal offerings include these topics and Computer Science, Health and Ethics. Browsable lists of titles are available alphabetically or by subject. - Royal Society: Online access to journals in Biology, Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Engineering, with options to search within journals or sign up for alerts. Founded in 1660, The Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the UK, dedicated to promoting excellence in science.
- Sage Full-text Collections: ECU has online access to three collections of Sage Journals through a subscription with CSA (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts):

- Sage Journals Online: ECU has online access to about 100 of the roughly 400 journals published by Sage, which has a strong focus in the social sciences. Alert services include Tables of Contents, searches, and article citation notifications. Registering also allows users to list favorite journals. Browse titles alphabetically or by subject area, or search for articles by citation, author, title, or keyword, with options to limit by journal, journal set, or date.
- SIAM Journals Online (Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics):Online access to the fulltext of about 13 journals from the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Fulltext coverage is from January 1997 - present. Also includes a searchable database of article topmatter (titles, authors, abstracts, key words, AMS subject classifications, and citation information) from issues dated January 1994 forward. Users can download articles in PDF, DVI, or PostScript format.
- SpringerLink: Connecting users to online science, medical and technical journals and books, most of them published by Springer-Verlag. Some other publishers' materials are also available; they include Brill Academic Publishers, Kluwer Academic, Urban and Vogel, Steinkopff, and Birkhäuser. To view only ECU's subscribed journals--more than 1350 at this time--select "browse," and filter by "viewable publications only." All publication titles to which ECU subscribes are marked with a small pair of sunglasses. Users can do simple or advanced searching for articles or publications, and may register to receive alerts or create lists of favorites.
- Taylor and Francis Metapress: The Metapress interface allows users to search across Taylor and Francis journals for articles. An alphabetical list of journals is available; journal titles with a small pair of sunglasses are ECU subscriptions. Subject lists are also available; subject areas include Agricultural and Biological Science, Arts and Humanities, Business and Management, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth and Planetary Science, Economics and Econometrics, Education, Energy and Power, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Science, Geography, Health Science, Life Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology, Science, and Social Science. The SARA (Scholarly Articles Research Alerting) service provides email alerting for journals.
- University of Chicago Press Journals: The UCP offers about 50 journals online. From each journal's home page, users may browse or search, sign up for email alerts, or navigate to an article by entering volume and starting page number. Notes regarding back issues in JSTOR are also provided from the journal's home page.
- Wiley: East Carolina University has access to about 300 journals at the Wiley Interscience site. Wiley publishes journals in science and social science disciplines, and the journals homepage allows users to begin browsing by discipline. Unfortunately, Wiley has no icon to indicate which journals ECU subscribes to, and no way to limit by subscribed journals. Researchers can also search for specific journals or for articles across all journals. Other search options include advanced searching, CrossRef and Google searching, and an Acronym finder. Users can set up profiles to save articles, journals, or queries, or to set up alerts.
