Dr. Borim Song, art education professor, and graduate student Nicole Allen created an art curriculum package for teen girls called “Artjoy: Visual Art as a Mirror and Window” and worked with a group of middle school and high school female students in Greenville community in Summer 2014. The curriculum package included lesson plans, class ideas, and lecture power points with numerous contemporary artists’ work images. The art workshop sessions focused on the role of visual art as a tool for self-reflection and self-empowerment of the participating girls. This project was supported by a grant from the ECU Engaged Outreach Scholarship Academy (EOSA).
