ECU Transitioning to Handshake

Handshake will be the new career database system replacing ECU CareerNET during the Summer and Fall of 2018. Handshake is a combination of some of the best tools on the web today, taken from services like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. It’s designed to help us precisely target career information, internship, employment opportunities, and career related events to student’s specific major, degree type, and interests. 

 

The transition to Handshake represents a significant milestone in the continuing evolution of ECU Career Services and the way in which we deliver services to our current students, alumni, employers, faculty and staff. Implementation will begin during the Summer 2018 term. Below is more information to help students, alumni and employers prepare for this upcoming change:

STUDENT ACTION STEPS
Handshake will be launching to student in May 30, 2018.


URGENT ACTIONS
Deadline: May 30, 2018
Action: Download your resume(s), cover letter(s), and other relevant documents from ECU CareerNET system. After this date, your documents will not be available and we will not be able to retrieve them for you.

Beginning: May 30, 2018
Action: Login to Handshake and begin to fill out your profile information and upload resume to view employment opportunities.

EMPLOYER ACTION STEPS
Employers who are currently using the ECU CareerNET system will be notified by email when Handshake is active for East Carolina University. Any positions posted with deadlines past May 30, 2018 will need to be re-posted in Handshake.


URGENT ACTIONS
Beginning: April , 2018
Action: Review your open positions in the current ECU CareerNET system. You will be able to complete recruiting on any open position through May 30, 2018. After May 30th, you will need to re-post any unfilled positions in Handshake to continue recruiting.

Action: Check the e-mail address that you use to log into ECU CareerNET system for an invitation to create your new account on Handshake. If you already use Handshake at another college or university, you may submit a request to add East Carolina University to your list of approved schools.
