What information is needed to schedule my interview?
Once you select your time slot, you will be asked to provide the following information to allow the interviewer to structure the mock interview to best reflect the type of job interview you would experience:
- Your Major
- The instructor for whose class your are doing the interview
- Your phone number
- Intended Job Title
- Company Name
- Industry
Where can I get job information?
You may select a company and job from the PirateJobs database, or you may select a job from a company in your field that interests you.
How do I schedule my HIRED mock interview?
Visit the HIRED online scheduling system. Use your Pirate ID to log in into the system. On the calendar, select a specific day and click on it to review available time slots. Choose an available time that fits your schedule. Place the date, time, and location of your interview in your calendar and build a reminder into your schedule.
Who will conduct my interview?
Interviews are conducted by professionals from many fields. If your schedule allows, you may find it especially beneficial to select a time with a professional from an industry that interests you. To learn more about the interviewers, click here.
Where do the interviews take place?
Interviews will be held at The Career Center. When you register for your appointment, the location of the interview will be indicated.
What should I do to prepare for the interview?
You should treat the mock interview as you would a real interview. Research the company and industry for which you will interview. The interviewer may ask you specific questions about the organization. You should also prepare questions to ask the interviewer, just as you would in a real interview setting and bring a copy of your resume to the interview. For more information about interviewing, what questions to ask, and possible questions to expect, visit the Interviewing section of our website.
What should I wear?
You should be neat, clean, well-groomed, and dressed in a suit.
What happens if I miss my interview?
It is imperative that you honor the date and time that you initially schedule your interview. If you fail to come to your appointment, we cannot guarantee that another time will be available for you to reschedule an interview. The HIRED program is structured to provide you with a real-world interviewing experience; if you were to miss a real job interview, it is unlikely that you would be offered the job.
I need to reschedule my interview, what should I do?
Due to demand and the limited number of interview slots, it is recommended that you keep your original appointment. If you must reschedule, you will need to provide a university approved absence. If you must reschedule, please contact The Career Center HIRED help line at 252-737-2309 at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
