References are an important part of the job search process. Most
employers will require them at some point during the application or interview process. Some employers may request a list of
references, some require written letters from your references, some employers
may require your references complete a printed or electronic reference form. It
is very important that you provide the type of reference the employer requests
when they request it.
Remember, some employers may ask for references at the
time you apply so be sure to read all application instructions very carefully.
It is also very important to always ask the individuals you would to have as a
reference if they are willing to be a positive reference for you prior to
listing them as a reference.
