Online Screenings, Workshops, & Special Events

In addition to counseling-based services, the Center for Counseling and Student Development offers programming on a variety of topics to numerous groups throughout the year. Many seminars and workshops are open to all currently-enrolled ECU students, and do not require advanced notice that you plan to attend. Please see the description for each event for more information regarding time, place, and target audience.

If you would like to take an online screening from the privacy of your own residence, simply click "Online Screenings" in the menu on the left and enter the password: EASTCAROLINA to access the screenings. Feel free to make an appointment with one of our counselors to further discuss results from any of the screenings.

Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation

Koru is a word used by the Māori people (a culture that is indigenous to New Zealand) for the spiral shape of the unfurling fern frond. It is a natural representation of the balance between perpetual growth and stability, symbolizing new life, strength, and peace.

This workshop series teaches skills in Mindfulness and Meditation, which offer the type of growth symbolized by the koru. Beyond simply decreasing your stress, this course offers approaches and skills to help you find more satisfaction in your daily life –improved sleep, patience, increased self-compassion, and greater resiliency.

The course, consisting of 4 classes, is designed to help you learn mindfulness through the practice of specific skills that calm and focus your mind;and through the practice of meditation.

If you are feeling pressured and stressed, or just interested in learning a new skill that can enrich your life, these classes are for you!

Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation will be offered on various days/times throughout the semester, in order to make it accessible to students with varying schedules.

To find out when the next class starts, email Christi Mobley: mobleyc@ecu.edu
