Pirate Adventure Recreation Orientation Trips

Paddle Exploration -- June 25th to 28th, 4 days
Get to know fellow first years and explore the beautiful waterways of Eastern North Carolina’s coastal plains. This 4 day orientation trip involves paddling on the Roanoke River, a unique area home to a hardwood swamp and wildlife refuges.  In the evening students will camp on hidden platforms tucked away into quaint bays and creeks.
Each platform is unique, some with roofs on dry land and some just have large, open decks with water on all sides.  Eagles, hawks, river otters, herons and the famous 'barred owl' are known to make their home on the Roanoke.
With the elegant simplicity of traveling via water, students will learn about how expedition behavior enhances their college life, how to engage with others in the unknown, as well as form bonds that only comes with miles and nights together in the woods.
Students of all ability levels are welcome.
