The start of Spring mean the Polar Bear Plunge cannot be far
behind. This extremely popular event has been transitioned to an ECU Tradition.
The jump began in 1997 commemorating the opening of the Student Recreation
Center with only 35 jumpers and has grown to over 1,000 jumpers 20 years later.
Polar Bear jumpers brave the bitter temperatures and leap into the frigid icy
waters of the outdoor pool in the heart of January with the lure of a T-shirt.
Beach Fest is held at the North Recreational
Complex each year in the fall semester. Beach Fest was created to showcase
CRW's, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, zip lining,
beach activities, and much more!
After a long winter indoors, students look
forward to spending more time outside and that’s why Spring Fest was started.
Spring Fest host a multitude of activities at the North Recreational Complex to
include, over 40 club sport demos, music, inflatables, outdoor fitness, zip
lining, nutritional samples, and much more! This is an opportunity for the ECU
community to become familiar with outdoor opportunities available.
Peace.love.pirates.cure Cancer Awareness Fair’s mission is
to educate and empower students, staff, and faculty to take charge of their
well-being and to learn more about strategies for preventing cancer. We cover
various types of cancer, including prevention, signs, symptoms, treatment, and
celebrating survivors. ECU students has the opportunity to “taste the rainbow”
of cancer fighting foods at our nutrition exhibit. CRW past partners have
included Student Health Services, Department of Health Education &
Promotion, ECU Physicians, Vidant Medical Center, Leo Jenkins Cancer Center,
and the American Cancer Society.
Summer time is a great time to say “Thank you” to all our
faculty, staff, and alumni members! Each summer we host Family Fun Day which
allows our ECU families to get a taste of Campus Recreation & Wellness
programs and services. Kids get to have a dance party on the beach, enjoy
stand-up paddling boarding, kayaking, beach games, and more summertime fun!
Come meet the summer camp counselors at this year's Family Fun Day. We will have activities for kids of all ages at the North Recreational Complex. Come prepared to get wet but bring athletic/close toed shoes to participant in the zip line.
