Conflict is inevitable and a natural aspect of life. However, if left unresolved, conflict may result in strained relationships, misunderstandings, physical altercations, and a host of other avoidable problems. The Dean of Students Office offers Conflict Resolution services to students in order to aid them in effective conflict resolution processes and develop students' abilities to handle conflict effectively. The Conflict Resolution services provide students an avenue to address and resolve interpersonal conflicts which may include but is not limited to conflicts between members of a student organization, roommates, students within a class or study group, faculty/staff and students, and friends. Conflict Resolution services are free and private to any East Carolina University student who is experiencing conflict with another and wishes to try to manage the conflict with the assistance of a neutral third party. At least one of the parties to the dispute must be a currently enrolled ECU student.
As members of the East Carolina community, how you conduct yourself makes a difference. Whether you are experiencing a conflict or choosing how you spend time outside of class, decisions you make speak to who you are and what you value. It is our hope that every decision and every response will be marked with civility and integrity.
If you could benefit from our conflict resolution services, feel free to call, email, or visit our office.
