Frequently Asked Questions

What is Student Pirate Club?

The Student Pirate Club is a student-run booster organization for East Carolina University Athletics and is an arm of the East Carolina Educational Foundation (Pirate Club).  The focus of the Student Pirate Club is to involve ECU students in an excitement based organization that is committed to supporting and promoting all ECU athletic programs.  Students make an annual donation of $50 and will be given an SPC membership card that will allow them to sit in the SPC section of all athletic events free of charge.

Is it too late for my child to join the Student Pirate Club?

Registration began in April and will run through early August.  Please sign your student up as soon as possible in order to avoid having them miss out on being involved in one of the largest student organizations in the country!  You can register at www.studentpirateclub.com

If I buy tickets at separate times will the seats be together?

If you opt to purchase general admission tickets, then your tickets will be in the student section of the stadium along with your student’s free ticket or Student Pirate Club pass.  If you purchase reserved seat tickets, then you will be sitting in a different section of the stadium from your student.  The only way for your student to sit with you and your family in a reserved section is if you purchase a ticket for your student.

Can I exchange my tickets at a later time?

Before placing your order, please discuss which section you would like to sit in with your student(s) and the rest of your family and friends attending Family Weekend.  With the popularity of Family Weekend and the Virginia Tech football game, seats will be very limited and exchanging your tickets may result in you being seated in an area that is less desirable than your original seat assignment.  However, we will be able to exchange tickets if you mail us back your original tickets along with a letter stating your reason for requesting a ticket exchange.  Please keep in mind that you may have to pay an additional amount in order for the Central Ticket Office to fulfill your request.

Are refunds available?

Unfortunately with the heavy volume that encompasses Family Weekend and a number of events that are planned based on the number of tickets sold, all tickets are non-refundable.  Due to the nature of event planning and coordination, refunds will not be offered, in full or in part, due to weather.

Is there a seating chart online to show me where my football game seats are?

Patrons may view the seating chart online at: http://grfx.cstv.com/schools/ecu/graphics/facilities/WD-Football.jpg

A 3-dimensional seating chart with seat view is available at: http://www.seats3d.com/ncaa/east_carolina_university/football/#/level_1/.

Do I need to purchase a ticket for my ECU student to sit with me at the game?

ECU students will receive a free student ticket or have their Student Pirate Club pass to use at the Virginia Tech game.  These tickets are only good for the student/SPC section of the stadium.  If you choose to purchase general admission tickets, then your purchased tickets will be in the student/SPC section along with your student.  Please note that upon ordering your football tickets, you will be required to provide your student’s Banner ID or SPC information.

If you purchase reserved seat tickets then your student will NOT be able to sit with you unless you purchase an additional ticket for them.  ECU student tickets and SPC passes do not permit students to sit in the reserved sections of the stadium.

Are there different ticket prices for youth?

For this particular football game, there will be no youth prices offered for tickets.  Please keep in mind that all bodies entering the stadium (including babies and small children) require a ticket.

What items are not permitted into the football stadium?

Bags (purses, diaper bags, backpacks, etc.) larger than 10 x 10 x 10, umbrellas, artificial noisemakers, alcoholic beverages, flags on poles (banners must be approved by calling 252-737-4531 by 5:00pm Thursday prior to the game), outside food or drinks, and coolers are not permitted into the football stadium.  Strollers are not permitted in the stands but fans may check them at the customer service tent across from the club/upper deck elevators inside Gate 2.

What is the menu for the Family Weekend Tailgate?

Fresh cut fruit salad, individual breakfast casseroles, NC BBQ Pig Wings (braised pork shanks in cider red pepper BBQ sauce), Low Country Shrimp and Grits (garlic & cheese stone ground grits and gulf shrimp with country ham and peppers), sweet potato casserole with marshmallows and pecans, corn muffins, assorted breakfast pastries, iced tea, coffee, and water.

Is parking available at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and for the Family Weekend Tailgate?

The parking lots surrounding the football stadium are reserved for season ticket holders that purchase the spaces and tailgate packages for the entire season.  A Family Weekend shuttle will be operating beginning at 8:00am.  Park and ride passes are $10 per vehicle.  The parking lot will be located at the medical campus off 5th Street behind Vidant Hospital.  After the game shuttle buses will continuously run until 5:00pm, picking up near the Clark-LeClair Stadium parking lot, which is adjacent to the tailgate location.  Further parking information can be found at the athletics website http://www.ecupirates.com/facilities/ecu-dowdy-directions.html

Will my student be able to pick up our tickets and packets if I cannot make it in time to check-in?

Yes, your student will be able to pick up your packets and any will call tickets between 10:00am and 6:00pm on Friday in Mendenhall Student Center.  The check-in location on Saturday will be at the Family Weekend Tailgate location between the softball stadium and track beginning at 8:30am.

How will I receive the tickets that I purchase?

All tickets and Park and Ride passes will be mailed to the address customers provide with their order up to a week before Family Weekend.  ECU students will need to pick up their free football ticket(s) if they are not in the Student Pirate Club during the designated pick up times, which will be included with your mailed tickets.  If anything is ordered within a week of Family Weekend, you will need your student to come by the Central Ticket Office (CTO) in Mendenhall Student Center to pick up your items between 9:00am and 6:00pm Monday – Friday.  The CTO will also be open beginning at 8:00am on Saturday, September 14.  Please keep in mind that if you purchase a Park and Ride pass you will need this before heading to the Park and Ride parking lot.

Tailgate tickets that are not picked up by close of business Friday will be available to pick up at the tailgate location beginning at 8:00 Saturday morning.  If you also purchase football tickets, they will be in the envelope with your tailgate tickets.  If you only purchase football tickets, they will be available at the will call windows beginning at 9:00am at Minges Coliseum, which is located adjacent to the football stadium.
