ECU Family Weekend               


Celebrate Family Weekend 2011 with a winning combination of football, entertainment, family activities, and food. Join us at these special events planned for you.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd (Paint It Purple Friday)

Air Force ROTC Open House
Wright Annex (3rd Floor above Starbucks)
Friday, September 23rd - 8:00am - 5:00pm
Family, Alumni, and interested students are welcome to tour the department and talk with current cadre, staff and cadets.

Student Recreation Center Weekend Passes
Student Recreation Center,
9:00am - 10:00pm, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday

Come enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities through Campus Recreation & Wellness including the state-of-the-art Student Recreation Center (SRC) during Family Weekend. The facility includes basketball/volleyball courts, a fitness area, racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and running track. Family Weekend participants may have up to three visitors enter the facility for free. Additional passes may be purchased at the SRC Customer Services desk for $5 each. Group Fitness classes, use of the indoor climbing wall, fitness area orientations, facility tours, and Wellness Center activities will also be available to Family Weekend participants free of charge. Tour the newly renovated Mamie Jenkins Building and visit with Honors College staff.

Play 18 holes of disc golf, sand volleyball, or simply relax on the beach, soaking up the sun, among other free activities.

Freeboot Friday
Uptown Greenville, Evans St

Be a part of a new Greenville tradition, Freeboot Friday. This event features live bands, exhibits of Uptown vendors’ wares, children’s activities, food samplings, and a beer/wine garden. Sponsored by Uptown Greenville. Visit their website for more information,

ALANA Recognition Ceremony
Hendrix Theatre

The Ledonia Wright Cultural Center traditionally recognizes the high academic achievement of self identified underrepresented students at East Carolina University. Students are sent notification of the program. They are encouraged to RSVP, attend and bring parents/family members as a part of the recognition ceremony. Students and family members will have an opportunity to celebrate these academic achievements with other members of the campus community. Drive-In Theater
Parking Lot at the bottom of College Hill Drive

Join Student Activities & Organizations as we celebrate a uniquely American past time, the Drive-in Theater! Friday, September 23rd in the parking lot at the bottom College Hill we will be showing Super 8 (2011). Show time is at 8pm and the lot opens at 6:30pm. Refreshments will be available.

For the outdoor enthusiasts, please join Campus Recreation & Wellness for a leisurely trip on the Tar River in canoes or sit-on-top kayaks. View a beautiful forest, riverside houses, sandy beaches, and abundant wildlife (turtles, geese, herons, birds of prey, and jumping fish). It’s a nice relaxing way to spend your time at ECU and a complement to other activities. There is a $12 fee per person for these trips and enrollment is limited. Pregame Pirate Buffet
Minges Coliseum, Enter at Gate 3
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

This popular $13.00 buffet features all your favorites: Eastern North Carolina pulled pork with buns, coleslaw, cornbread, and a Low Country Boil which includes shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage and red potatoes. Quench your thirst with iced watermelon stations, sweet tea, un-sweet tea and iced water. University administrators, faculty, and staff, along with ECU Parents Council members, will be hosting various tables. Please use the attached form to order your buffet tickets. Students will NOT be able to use a meal card for the buffet. Family members need to purchase a ticket for their student. No Coolers allowed inside of Minges.

Family Weekend Football Game
ECU vs. Alabama-Birmingham
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium

Parents of ECU students may order two specially priced tickets at $35 each to this game until September 9. Additional tickets may be ordered at $40 each. For children 12 and younger, tickets are $25. If any tickets are still available after September 9, the price will be $40 for age 13 and older.
Please indicate your seat location preference on the order form. If you DO NOT wish to sit in the student section with your student, your seats will be located in a reserved seat section of the lower level of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. All other tickets will be located in the newly constructed Student General Admission area. Parents of Student Pirate Club members who wish to sit with your student should also indicate this on the order form.
Please indicate on your order form if you will require a wheelchair location. You may purchase two tickets in the handicapped area, (one wheelchair location and one companion seat).

PARK AND RIDE
Cruise in comfort to Saturday events held on campus. Participants will park in a designated lot. All members of your party may use the shuttle for a fee of $10 per vehicle. The Park and Ride pass will be mailed with your tickets. The deadline to order your Park and Ride pass is September 9th.

• Last day to purchase football tickets

• Last day to purchase buffet tickets that will be sent by mail. (Buffet tickets purchased after this date can be picked up at the Central Ticket Office in Mendenhall Student Center, Monday-Friday, from 9:00am – 6:00pm)

September 23rd
• Buffet Tickets not picked up on or before September 11 will be held for pickup at the buffet at Todd Dining Hall from 3 hours before kickoff until 30 minutes before kickoff.
