Grab your purple and gold and dive into the Pirate Experience with your student and join other ECU parents and families for a wonderful, fun-filled weekend on campus. This special weekend is your opportunity to get a taste of campus life. Visit your son's or daughter's residence hall, meet university administrators, attend a special concert, drive-in movie, or play and enjoy everything ECU has to offer at the one of the many fun events we have planned for you. Bring the entire family and take time to meet other ECU families too at this year’s Family Tailgate on the lake at the North Recreational Complex. You’ll enjoy great food, music, and outdoor activities for all ages before cheering the Pirates on to VICTORY at the big game!  Check the schedule of events below for ALL of the fun things we have planned just for YOU!!

6th Annual Pirate's Bounty Scholarship Auction

Hosted by the East Carolina Alumni Association
Bid for a bounty of loot at the Pirate's Bounty Scholarship Auction! Unique items include art, gift baskets, dinners, jewelry, trips, sports packages, spa packages, ECU gear, and more! Live entertainment and refreshments complete the evening. All proceeds benefit the Alumni Association Scholarship Program for current ECU students.

Welcome to ECU!  All registered participants should check in to pick up your packets, including the Guide to Family Weekend, nametags, tickets and other goodies! Stop by this location anytime you need assistance or just want to take a break. Families may also register on-site for any available events.

ECU Alumni Scholarship Classic

Hosted by the East Carolina Alumni Association
Tee up for student scholarships at the ECU Alumni Scholarship Classic golf tournament at Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville. This four-person super ball tournament offers two flight times (9 a.m. and 2 p.m.), breakfast and lunch for players, and a 19th Hole evening reception after a day on the links. All proceeds benefit the Alumni Association Scholarship Program for current ECU students.

“Uptown” Greenville:  Enjoy this free event offering live music and fun for the whole family with an inflatable Pirate Ship for children, arts and crafts, Uptown restaurant food samplings, and a beer and wine garden for those 21 and older. Head to Five Points Plaza (5th & Evans) in the Uptown District for Freeboot Friday. You won’t want to miss a special appearance by the ECU Marching Band, the ECU Cheerleaders and Pee-Dee the Pirate himself as they lead Pirate fans in a Pep Rally like none other. Good company awaits you at Freeboot!

Back by popular demand, this informal event allows parents and families to join ECU faculty and administrators for a meet and greet social in the Wellington B. Gray Art Gallery. Enjoy a live performance by the ECU Jazz Ensemble, and feast on delectable samplings from our very own Chef Paul. Spend the evening getting to know our ECU faculty, University leaders and enjoy incredible artwork and finding out what’s happening on campus, and in the classroom.

Pirate Family Fest and Pre-Game Tailgate Party

Enter through Clark-LeClair Stadium parking lot.
All registered Family Weekend participants are invited to join us for music, fun and friends before heading to Dowdy- Ficklen Stadium to cheer the Pirates to victory! Gates open at 8:30am, food served from 9:00am-11:30am.
Come enjoy music, great food, Inflatables, and carnival style games!

A new addition to this year’s tailgate experience will include “Family Weekend Service Project”. Interested in volunteering for family weekend? *tickets are $16 each and ECU students MAY NOT use their meal plans for this event.

The parking lots surrounding the football stadium are reserved for season ticket holders that purchase the spaces and tailgate packages for the entire season. A Family Weekend shuttle will be operating beginning at 8:00am. Park and ride passes are $10 per vehicle. The parking lot will be located at the medical campus off 5th Street behind Vidant Hospital.

After the game, shuttle buses will continuously run until 5:00pm, picking up near 14th Street. (See Map: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/ecu/genrel/auto_pdf/2013-14/misc_non_event/footbl-parking-map.pdf) Families will be asked to exit the football game using gates 7, 8 and 9, proceeding directly to the ECU transit buses. Our update to your post-game exit is to ensure ease of movement to your point of destination.

Post-Game Ice Cream Social

Come "cool down" after the football game.
Prior to loading the buses, grab some treats to go.
After the game, shuttle buses will continuously run until 5:00pm, picking up near 14th Street. Families will be asked to exit the football game using gates 7, 8 and 9, proceeding directly to the ECU transit buses. Please note shuttle service ends one hour after the game.

Campus Recreation and Wellness Center

Friday 10:00am-5:00pm, Saturday 11:00-5:00pm
Parents are invited to utilize our state-of-the-art recreation center. Stop by to participate in a new fitness class, play a game of racquetball or enjoy many of our other resources.

8:00 am - 10:00 pm, Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Come enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities through Campus Recreation & Wellness including the state-of-the-art Student Recreation Center (SRC) during Family Weekend. The facility includes basketball/volleyball courts, a fitness area, racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and running track. Family Weekend participants may have up to three visitors enter the facility for free. Additional passes may be purchased at the SRC Customer Services desk for $5 each. On Friday, hours for open climbing on our 27 foot indoor climbing wall will be available from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Family Weekend participants are invited to come in and experience this opportunity at no additional charge.

Group Fitness classes
FREE Group Fitness Classes! This year we are offering FREE access to our Group Fitness Classes to students and families Friday, September 13 – Sunday, September 15. All classes are appropriate for beginners to advanced participants and meet in the Student Recreation Center. Class schedules and details will be available on our website. 

North Recreation Complex
Relax and enjoy one of the finest outdoor recreation areas on a college campus in the nation. The facility features eight lighted multi-purpose playing fields, a sandy beach area, beach volleyball courts, disc golf course, walking/jogging trails, outdoor fitness equipment, a lake, and an Odyssey Challenge Course. The boathouse will be open from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Friday, September 13 and 12:00 noon – 9:00 pm on Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15 and will have canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and disc golf discs available for check-out.
