Through dedicated and cooperative work, students, faculty, and staff have established the Spiritual Place, All Can Enter, located in the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center. Affectionately known as The S.P.A.C.E., this room is the outcome of more than a decade of work to cultivate a sense of Tending to the Spirit here at ECU. The seeds, planted years ago, have been lovingly tended by many and have now blossomed into a physical representation of our freedom to express our spiritual self and the mutual respect for others to do the same.
The S.P.A.C.E. is a peaceful place to contemplate, relax, meditate, or pray. Many enter to visualize the day's purpose and to find balance within. Others enter to adhere to religious obligations. Some come to mourn, heal a broken heart, and weep. Several come to give thanks, worship, and praise. Others enter to get focused for a challenge, while others come to share, teach, or learn something new about their own beliefs or those of others.
The S.P.A.C.E. is special. A simple yet complex location that is so much more than a quiet room. Its ambiguity is intentional, honoring differing viewpoints and allowing its beauty to be in the heart of each visitor. Therefore, it a source of peace, wholeness, or anything you need it to be.
Come and enter. Feel the warmth of the sun on your face. Sit, kneel, bow, prostrate, lie, or stand. For in the silence of the S.P.A.C.E., you are you, I am me, and we all are one.
Hours of Operation- M-T 8am-8pm, F-8am-5pm Others by reservation.
