African Student's Organization (ASO)
This organization provides a social network for African students at
ECU, as well as educate the ECU community about African issues,
cultures, and values. Facebook
Asian Student Association (ASA)
The ASA is a preservation and understanding of Asian diversity,
culture, and values. We believe that this organization will work to
develop an intercultural bridge among students built on the foundations
of cultural awareness, education, and understanding. Website
Black Student Union (BSU)
The purpose of the ECU-BSU is to serve as a civic, community, social,
and cultural resource for the black students at ECU. As a civic
organization, the ECU-BSU seeks to influence policies affecting black
students. As a community organization, we shall strive to create and
maintain bonds with the ECU/Greenville Community. As a social
organization the ECU-BSU shall promote social interaction among
students at ECU, black students in particular. As a cultural
organization the ECU-BSU shall promote academic performance,
intellectual growth and intimate interaction between its members, as
well as the Greenville/Pitt Community. Facebook
Caribbean Student Association (CSA)
This organization is aimed at uniting Caribbean students together and

East Carolina Native American
Organization (ECNAO)
The purpose of the ECNAO is to serve as a cultural resource for ECU and
for all students, faculty, and staff at ECU and in the community. ECNAO
will provide the university and surrounding community with programs and
activities that will expose them to the riches of the native American
contribution to America's history and culture. ECNAO will promote
Native American culture as well as intellectual growth between its
members and members of ECU and the community. ECNAO will strive to
involve its members in learning experiences about the culture and
history of Native Americans. ECNAO will also help ease the transition
of its members from home life to college life by surrounding them with
others of Native American heritage and also surrounding them with
people from other cultures and ethnic groups. Facebook
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender,
Student Union (GLBTSU)
The GLBTSU provides a group in which ECU students who are gay, lesbian,
bisexual, or allied with our causes may meet to further these issues on
campus and in the surrounding community. Website
Hillel
The mission is to maximize the number of Jews doing things with other
Jews. Hillel actively seeks to engage Jewish students on their own
terms: to provide them with opportunities to do things that are
meaningful and appealing to them. Students are empowered to take
responsibility for their Jewish identity, whether they wish to
participate in a community service project, express themselves
artistically, participate in a social event, engage in informal Jewish
learning or attend religious services. Any student may participate in
Hillel. Hillel is committed to a pluralistic vision of Judaism that

National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) The mission of the NAACP is
to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of
rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial

Student Activities Board-Initiatives Chairperson
The Student Activities Board of ECU offers an opportunity for students,
staff, and faculty to take advantage of the most creative, energetic,
and entertaining entity on campus. The SAB is a dedicated,
student-based organization committed to planning innovative and
exciting programs for the university community. We are comprised of
seven committees whose sole responsibility is to plan and execute
programs and events that will interest the entire student body and

Student Association of Spanish-Latino
Affairs (SALSA)
The purpose of SALSA is to promote Hispanic awareness throughout campus
and the surrounding community. SALSA proudly represents a variety of
different cultures and different backgrounds. We encourage unity
between all ethnicities, especially Hispanics. At ECU we recognize both
the need for unity among Hispanic students and a strong relationship
among our community. We acknowledge the value of diversity and
distinctiveness of the Latino/Hispanic community and recognize both the
need for unity among Latino/Hispanic students and a strong relationship
among all undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff, and community. Website
