Student Organization Spotlight
The following organizations were chosen as Spring
2012 top Organizations for the month of April:
Eta
Sigma Gamma for their
volunteer work with Hope Lodge, where they serve dinner, deserts, and drinks.
They enjoy giving back to the community and they collaborate with other
organizations throughout the semester to volunteer and make a difference. They
have had small events on campus that promotes sexual health and their
organization is becoming better every day.
Gamma Chi Epsilon has been
selected for their dedication and compassion to those in need. They are a local
service and social sorority that offers many of the same aspects that national
sororities offer, but their organization is unique because it brings together
girls from every background to provide true friendships and bonds for
life. They give back to the community in any way they can, and they have fun
doing it. Since their philanthropy is cancer, the biggest way they
contribute their time and efforts to such a worthy cause is by volunteering at
the Hope Lodge in Greenville, NC. They spend their weekends helping to clean
the lodge, as well as host special events on some weekends, such as Bingo
Nights. Their group may not seem big, but when compared to the community
service they perform, it is a true testament of how something small can do
something big.
PRSSA is GREAT because they are giving their members
a chance to prepare for the real-world by providing them with numerous resources
such as networking opportunities, meeting professionals at national conferences,
scholarships and information on internships. Not only do they give back to the
community (Operation Christmas Child, Relay for Life) they also know how to have
a good time!
FUSE (Ignite College
Ministry) for their diligence in ministering to over 250 different students.
FUSE allows students to develop relationships with each other and with Christ,
and has a strong emphasis on service. One particular service event that they
were a part of took place in October, when a group of students traveled to
Grifton, to help with Hurricane Clean-up efforts to those who were still in
need. It is the vision of FUSE to lead students into becoming fully devoted
followers of Christ, but also to serve those in their community, as well as
their campus.
FUSE also sponsored two
large worship nights on campus this semester, where campus-wide mailers were
sent out, flyers were distributed, and posters were put up to spread the word,
and both events were a huge success! The first event was held in Wright
Auditorium, and the second in Hendrix Theater.
FUSE is also focused on
developing strong student leaders, both in the classroom and the community.
