The month of October at ECU equates to Homecoming Celebrations and Pirate Football! There is no other student organization that supports ECU athletics as the Student Pirate Club. The Student Pirate Club (SPC) is an organization that seeks to involve ECU students in an excitement-oriented organization that is committed to supporting and promoting all ECU athletic programs. The club also seeks to educate ECU students of the importance of giving back to the Student Pirate Club after graduation and become lifelong Pirate Athletics supporters. The SPC is the largest student supported organization at ECU, and in the state of North Carolina. It is also one of the largest student organizations in the United States. This year was no different for the SPC. With a membership of 7,755 students, the SPC exceeded its goal of 6000 members by 1,755. Derek Denton, advisor of the SPC stated that “The SPC has blown their goals out of the water. This year the SPC wanted to be involved with Homecoming by submitting a Homecoming Banner for the first time, but we were not expecting to win! The win just goes to show how hard our members work, and how much pride they have for ECU athletics.” The SPC also contributed to homecoming week at ECU by participating in the Homecoming Parade and the canned food drive. Students who are interested in becoming members of the Student Pirate Club should visit www.ecupirateclub.com.
