The Department of Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) operates under the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and enhances the educational experience for all students by helping to build a sense of campus community through a wide variety of programs and services for individuals and student groups.  Through a broad range of co-curricular, cultural, educational, recreational, and social programs, SIL supports the university in achieving its mission of being the cultural center of the region.  The Department of Student Involvement and Leadership is a primary point of contact for students through registered student organizations; student programming groups (such as the Student Activities Board); Student Government Association; social fraternities and sororities (Office of Greek Life); and student leadership programs and co-curricular (Center for Student Leadership and Engagement).

Facilities and Services available through the department within the Mendenhall Student Center include an information desk; study and TV lounges; meeting, conference, and multi-purpose rooms; a movie theater; a bowling alley; billiards; the student organization office; SIL Finance and Administrative offices; the Office of Event and Conference Planning; Mendenhall Student Center Operations; the Central Ticket Office; and technical support and equipment rental for campus events by Production Services.

The Department of Student Involvement and Leadership also operates the Wright Auditorium which is located in the center of campus near the Wright Fountain.
