 Main Campus Student Center

Opening in Fall 2018, the Main Campus Student Center will be a sprawling 210,000 square foot facility that will be a visual representation of East Carolina University's connection to people and industry of Eastern North Carolina, the City of Greenville, and our Pirate traditions. Serving as the premier location for the campus community, the new student center will carry forward many of the traditional facilities of the past combined within a more modern appearance with some of the following new highlights:

  • Dowdy Student Store
  • New Retail Spaces
  • 14,000 square foot Ballroom
  • Black Box Theater
  • 24 x 42 foot Pirate Vision Digital Display
  • Six Dining Options including Starbucks and Au Bon Pain
  • Home to the LGBT Resource Center and the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center
  • Multiple lounges, study rooms, and new gaming center

CAMPUS DINING
Multiple dining options will exist in the new Main Campus Student Center for students, faculty, staff, and guests to enjoy. Panda Express, currently located in the Mendenhall Student Center, will relocate to the new building and will be joined by a full service Starbucks, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Au Bon Pain Cafe & Bakery, a new burger concept eatery, as well as an ice cream and smoothie store.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES
The new center will continue to serve as the home to the unit of Student Involvement& Leadership. Programming areas include Student Activities & Organizations, Intercultural Affairs (Jesse Peel LGBT Resource Center and Ledonia Wright Cultural Center), Leadership & Service-Learning, Greek Life, and the Crow's Nest Game Room. Services include Central Ticket Office, Dowdy Student Stores, and Central Reservations which will serve the greater university community.

TRANSIT & PARKING
While both visitor and faculty, staff, and student parking is available, the student centers construction project will impact the parking on the Main Campus. The Mendendhall parking area, including lots WC 8, 9, 15, 18, 29, 30, 31 off of 10th street, will close during the duration of the project to accommodate construction vehicles and deliveries. During this time ECU Transit will provide increased bus service to and from Main Campus, various parking lots, and other points throughout the City of Greenville.

LOUNGES & ROOMS
The new Main Campus Student Center will provide a number of spaces for faculty, staff, students, and guests to engage in dialogue, study, and relax. Along with a 14,000 square Grand Ballroom, there are nine meeting rooms of various sizes located throughout the student center. Along with a number of lounges, the 10,000 square foot Commons serves as student center's central artery and gathering spot.

PIRATE VISION
Unique to East Carolina University, the new Main Campus Student Center will be home to Pirate Vision, a 24 x 42 foot outdoor jumbo digital display. The screen will be used to show films, simulcast live television programs, and will showcase pirate sporting events. Pirate Vision will be on the north side of the center facing Joyner Library and a newly landscaped lawn.


Student Involvement & Leadership

As part of the Division of Student Affairs, Student Involvement & Leadership is home to five departments: Student Activities and Organizations, Greek Life, Leadership and Service-Learning, Intercultural Affairs and Student Centers; two programs: Student Activities Board and Student Government Association; and two centers: the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center and the Jesse Peel LGBT Resource Center.

Student Involvement & Leadership enhances the educational experience for all students by helping to build a sense of campus community through a wide variety of programs and services for individuals and student groups. Through a broad range of co-curricular, cultural, educational, recreational, and social programs, the unit supports the university's commitments of student success, public service, and regional transformation.
