Dependents & Visitors

Student Health Services (SHS) is a campus service primarily funded by student fees.  While we enjoy and excel at providing high quality care, we cannot extend our general services to dependents or families of students or to the general public except in the instances described below.

People who are participating in a short-term university sponsored events, and who have been approved in advance by the SHS Director, are eligible for care during their visit to ECU.  Examples include, but are not limited to, summer camps, orientation advisors, Walker Human Performance Center participants, Legislator’s School, and N.C. Teacher’s Academy.

In cases of urgent issues involving visitors to campus or family members of students, SHS will triage and stabilize the patient and then appropriately refer them to an outside provider for further care.

All persons receiving care at SHS who have not paid a health fee with their tuition will be charged a per visit fee in addition to other applicable charges; payment is due at the time of service.
