Ad Agency Business Manager -- Job Description
The business manager is responsible for overseeing every facet of the Student Media Advertising & Marketing Agency. The manager must be familiar with advertising sales, including developing sales strategies to generate revenue through The East Carolinian student newspaper. theeastcarolinian.com website, WZMB 91.3 radio station, the Buccaneer yearbook and three student-operated magazines. The manager handles all national advertising, deals with the public and runs all agency meetings. As part of that the business manager conducts all deadline meetings to allocate ad space, runs sales meetings, attends various student activities and is responsible for recruitment, hiring and training staff. The business manager prepares reports for senior management and ensures the department complies with company policies. The business manager is responsible for keeping the University Media Board well informed about the ad agency's general operations and development.


The business manager must meet the following requirements:
• Be enrolled as a full-time student at East Carolina University.
• Have a minimum 2.50 grade point average at time of selection and maintain a minimum 2.50 grade point average while employed at Student Media.
• Ability to lead staff members and direct their activities.
• Ability to handle responsibility and meet deadlines.
