New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation sessions were held throughout the summer. Any student that has not attended an orientation session should plan to attend August Orientation on Friday, August 22, 2014. More information about August Orientation will be available soon.

Congratulations on your acceptance to ECU! You will find that ECU is a warm and friendly campus with faculty and staff who are anxious to assist you in achieving your academic goals. The New Student Orientation program is designed to assist students with the transition to East Carolina University.

At New Student Orientation, you will take placement tests (if necessary), meet with an advisor, register for classes, discover resources available to you on campus, learn about student organizations, get your 1 Card (student ID), meet new friends, and HAVE FUN! You will also meet ECU staff, faculty, and an Orientation Assistant—an upper class student who can answer all your questions about life at ECU.

The New Student Orientation Program is designed to:

  • Academically prepare you for your first semester through placement testing, meeting with an advisor, and registering for classes.
  • Make you aware of important academic rules and regulations.
  • Introduce student life and involvement.
  • Provide a taste of what college life at ECU is like.
  • Help you to learn your way around campus.
  • Let you meet your fellow Pirates!

Did you receive the email about the Pirate Introduction to ECU Registration tutorials? PIER modules are now available online. Visit the PIER site for more information. The online quiz will be available on Tuesday, May 27 at 1:00pm. Remember that you must be registered for New Student Orientation before being eligible to take the quiz.
