Congratulations on your acceptance to East Carolina University! You will find that ECU is a warm and friendly campus with faculty and staff who are anxious to assist you in achieving your academic goals. Orientation enables you to make a smooth transition into academic and campus life at ECU. While programs and services at ECU are similar to those provided at your previous college or university, in reality every college or university is different so our orientation program will be of great benefit to you. You will be introduced ECU’s community, learn about resources available to assist you in making a smooth transition, and provide you with information to help you be successful as a student at ECU.
If you were unable to attend any of the previous freshmen orientations, please register for and attend the August 17 orientation. During the orientation there will be a presentation specifically designed for freshmen. See below for more information.
A one-day on-campus orientation will be held on August 17, 2017. At orientation you will learn about academic policies, discover campus resources, get your ECU 1 Card and meet with your advisor and register for classes.
Orientation check-in will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and should conclude by 5:00 p.m. The cost for attending orientation is $100 for students. The fee covers the cost for student’s ECU 1 Card, program materials, meals, parking, shuttle service, facility usage, and staffing. If students are living on campus they can move in August 16, 2017. After registering for orientation, you must email orientation @ecu.edu to let us know you have contracted with housing, are attending the August 17 orientation and plan to take advantage of the early move-in on August 16. Your email must include your full name (no nicknames), Banner ID, ECU email address, and the room assignment you received from housing.
Family orientation sessions run concurrently with student sessions and introduce family members to resources available to their student at ECU. The cost for family members is $50 for the first family member and $20 for each additional family member. This cost includes meals, parking shuttles, facility usage, materials, and staffing.
