Employment

Student-athletes may receive earnings from on- or off-campus employment at any time. Such earnings are exempt and are not counted in determining a student-athlete’s cost of attendance or in the institution’s financial aid limitations provided

•  the student-athlete’s compensation does not include any remuneration for value or utility that the student-athlete may have for the employer because of the publicity, reputation, fame, or personal following that he or she has obtained because of athletics ability;

•  the student-athlete is compensated only for work actually performed; and

•  the student-athlete is compensated at a rate commensurate with the going rate in that locality or for similar services.

Student-athletes wishing to obtain a job must contact the office of compliance. Failure to do so may jeopardize athletics eligibility.
