What Is My GPA?

To calculate your GPA, you need to divide the number of quality points you have earned by the number of semester hours you have attempted.

A equals 4 quality points per semester hour (3 hour A = 3 X 4 = 12)

B equals 3 quality points per semester hour (3 hour B = 3 X 3 = 9)

C equals 2 quality points per semester hour (3 hour C = 3 X 2 = 6)

D equals 1 quality point per semester hour ( 3 hour D = 3 X 1 = 3)

If you were to take the following courses and receive the following

grades, this is how you would calculate your GPA for the semester:

COURSE HOURS GRADE Quality Points

ENGL 1100 3 C 6 (3 x 2)

BIOL 1050 3 B 9 (3 x 3)

BIOL 1051 1 A 4 (1 x 4)

HIST 1030 3 F 0 (3 x 0)

PSYC 1000 3 D 3 (3 x 1)

MUSC 2208 2 B 6 (2 x 3)

Totals 15 28

In this case, your GPA equals 28 (quality points) divided by 15 (hours taken) or 1.86

for the semester.

You can calculate your GPA for the semester, the year, and for your entire scholastic

career. It can even be calculated for “what if” scenarios. The formula is always the

same: total number of quality points divided by total number of hours attempted.

You can always use the automatic gradepoint calculator through your OneStop account.  To access the calculator go to your OneStop and click on tools.  Then click on GPA calculator in the Academic Planning box.  This tool will calculate your GPA automatically for you according to your current semester's courses.
