College Hill Suites Waiting List

Campus Living will begin taking a waiting list for students with ACTIVE contracts via E-MAIL ONLY after the 2nd Chance process is over. Starting March 31, 2008 students can e-mail housing@ecu.edu from their official ECU e-mail account and request they be added to the College Hill Suites waiting list. Students wanting to remain on the waiting list should pay their advance room fee.

Alternative Spring Break

Alternative Spring Break (ASB) at East Carolina University seeks to educate student-volunteers about specific social issues by immersing them in diverse cultures and environments across the country to engage in service-learning. ASB not only seeks to involve, educate and heighten students' social awareness, but to encourage lifelong social action.

Program Description and Applications

Campus Living offers a wide range of programs and activities in all of our halls. These programs enhance the educational experience at East Carolina University by offering opportunities to learn and grow outside the classroom. In addition, we offer more focused educational programs in some of our halls, to add to the campus educational experience in specific area. All of these programs are based in a specific hall or halls. Some of these programs are based on Academic Major and are selected by being part of specific majors or programs, and other programs are have a separate application process.

Contract Cancellations

Do not sign a lease for off campus housing if you currently have a active contract with campus living. Signing a lease for off-campus housing does NOT release you from the Campus Living Contract.
The Campus Living contract is a binding contract. After August 1, 2007 there are serious penalties for canceling the contract.
Students should review the campus living contract before canceling their contract or submitting an appeal.

Living on campus is easy living. The Campus Living Tradition is a stress-free lifestyle from the burden of scraping together enough money each month to pay rent, Internet bills, cable TV bills, and always increasing utility bills. Not to mention, having to sign an off-campus twelve-month lease. Enjoy free laundry facilities and more time to explore and enjoy what ECU has to offer with all the extra activities available on campus. Take this time to get the most out of your education.

Employment Info

All student employment positions with Campus Living require a 2.25 GPA or higher for consideration (2.5 GPA or higher is preffered.) Student employees are hired on a semester basis and must maintain a 2.25 GPA or higher to retain their position with Campus Living. Students must live or have lived on campus and must have a clear judicial record for consideration of employment.

Residence Life Internships

Campus Living is comprised of Housing and Dining services. Our student, paraprofessional, and professional staff are committed to our vision of, “Enriching the lives of our students by enhancing the learning environment of the University.” As such, we strive to provide innovative services, programs, and leadership to our residential student population. We seek to fill our open positions with individuals who can assist in building our vision into a reality for the hall communities.

RezNet

RezNet is the high speed Internet service that is provided in your residence hall room. It is a “wired” connection. ECU offers wireless connections in the public areas (lobby, some laundry areas) of most residence halls, but in your room you will be using a Ethernet cable and port. Bringing or using your own wireless access point is prohibited for security reasons.
Campus Living provides technical support via “house calls” from our Resident Computer Consultants (RCC). Students can get assistance over the phone or request technical support from a RCC by calling the ITCS Helpdesk at 328-9866. Students can also use the services of the ACE Computing Center in Austin Hall. The hours, location and contact information for ACE can be found at http://www.ecu.edu/ace/.

MRSA Information

ECU Student Health does see, evaluate and treat MRSA infections and has not experienced any recent increase in cases. Recent media reports have caused an increased concern over MRSA, a bacterial infection. MRSA usually presents as a localized skin infection, such as a pimple or boil. Treatment normally consists of hot compresses, antibiotics and incision & drainage of the area if needed. Many people naturally carry this bacteria on their skin but they do not get ill. However, a break in the skin, even an opening too small to see, can allow the bacteria to cause infection.
