Friday Floats

With the continued popularity of our Friday Floats, we now offer the Floats almost every other Friday. Join a handful of other paddlers on 6 different Friday afternoons this spring; we’ll paddle the shorter water trails around the Greenville/Little Washington/Pitt County, NC area.  One Friday may involve us sea kayaking past the historic waterfront of Little Washington, on another we will canoe up the mangrove woven Cherry Run or down the Tar. Each Friday Float will showcase a different paddling (canoeing or sea kayaking) option for 3 hours of on water paddling.

Cost: $10 for students/members. $15 for non-members.  Trip includes equipment, transportation, and instruction.  No experience needed.

Meet at 2pm in the Adventure Center and we seek to be back around 6pm. Dates: Jan 22nd, Feb 5th, Feb 19th, March 26th, April 9th, April 23rd, No pre-trip meeting or signup by date.

Canoe Devil’s Gut - Saturday, February 6th

Slip your canoe into the calm blackwater stream of Gardner Creek and paddle with ease into the heart of the cypress and tupelo gum swamp called Devil’s Gut. Our destination is the Beaver Tail camping platform, built by the Roanoke River Partners, where we will break for lunch beneath the Spanish moss covered canopy. Eating lunch on this remote platform, you’ll refine what the word quiet means. The quiet is only broken by the many birds or the herring jumping in the water, which are running up the river to spawn.

Cost: $25 for students/members. $35 for non-members. Trip includes equipment, transportation, and instruction.  No experience needed.

Sign up by Tuesday, February 2nd.
