Purpose
Go for the Gold is a 11 – week incentive program created to promote a healthy lifestyle through aquatic fitness. The program will target the East Carolina University community, and take place at the Student Recreation Center. This program is open to all SRC members.
Registration
Each person must complete and submit a registration form before starting this program. Registration can be completed and participation can begin at any time during the program. Registration forms can be found at the CRW customer service desk or lifeguard stand.
Goal
Inspired by Michael Phelps’ record breaking performance at the Beijing Olympics, we are continuing with the Olympic Spirit. Michael won 8 gold medals with a total of 1500 meters in the finals alone.
How to earn miles
- Every lap you swim will count as a 2 meters. A lap is defined as two 25 yard lengths of the pool. (down and back)
- Participants are limited to receiving credit for a maximum of 35 laps per day.
- Each swimmer will be responsible for logging his/her laps. Logging laps can be completed by reporting the numbers of laps you have swam, with the date, by your name in the “Go for the Gold” clipboard at the lifeguard station.
You may follow your progress on the CRW website. The website will be updated every Tuesday by 5pm.
Prizes
Awarded for each medal you win in the Go for the Gold Challenge.
The prizes are as follow:
Bronze Medal(250 pool laps total)- CRW Highlighter
Silver Medal (500 pool laps total)- Swim Cap
Gold Medal (750 pool laps total)- T-Shirt
