Guided by the values of integrity, respect, and citizenship the Office of the Dean of Students encourages the members of the campus community to visit the office to consult with the staff regarding matters concerned with student life at East Carolina University.
Our Mission
The mission of the Office is to advance the University’s mission by facilitating students’ knowledge, understanding, and utilization of University systems and resources, working collaboratively to enhance the enrichment of the overall student experience throughout the learning continuum. Work is accomplished through strategic alignment, both internally and in concert with other University departments. Our efforts affirm the value and contributions of each individual and we harbor democracy, civility, trust, and diversity as paramount to our work to effect positive change.
Our Purpose
The Dean of Students staff serves as a liaison between students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators to help solve problems, assist with individual or group crisis management, navigate various campus procedures, and serve as an advocate for students when needed. By connecting with other university departments, the office responds to student's needs by identifying the appropriate resources available.
Our Partners
In an effort to meet the individual needs of our students, the Center for Counseling and Student Development, the Center for Off-Campus and Community Living, the Department for Disability Support Services, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and the Student Health Center join the Dean of Students to make available comprehensive student services that focus on personal development. These departments work in partnership with the Dean of Students by responding pro-actively to wellness, crisis, safety, and access matters. Collectively, we are committed to helping every member of our community succeed.
