Employers
Welcome to the Student Employment office! We’re excited you are interested in hiring ECU students. Our office is responsible for coordinating a variety of part-time employment related functions depending on the classification of your organization; On-campus employer (ECU department’s only) or Off-campus employer (non-ECU organization). Please select your appropriate classification located on the left to access further information.
Mandatory Campus Job Postings
As of January 1st, 2009, it will be mandatory for all self help student job openings to be posted with the Student Employment Office. Each job that is posted with the Student Employment Office will receive a unique job number. That job number must be placed on the EPAF in the comments section. Student EPAFs will not be approved without a job number. The Student Employment Office will be hosting a virtual job fair during the first two weeks of classes (January 9-22, 2009). Posting your jobs with the Student Employment Office by January 5th will insure they are included in the virtual job fair and increase the number of qualified applicants you receive. Pease complete the Jobs Posting Request Form.
All student job openings will be posted on the Pirate Jobs database (https://www.myinterfase.com/ecu/employer/). The purpose of this is to give students one central location where they can go to find a job on campus. It is mandatory that both Federal Work Study and Self Help positions be posted on the website. It is strongly encouraged that Graduate Assistant and Undergraduate Assistant positions be posted as well. It is recommended that jobs are posted for a minimum of 5 full working days.
How will the student job posting process work?
- Complete the online Jobs Posting Request Form.
- After your job is posted, you will receive a confirmation email containing a job posting number. KEEP THE JOB NUMBER FOR YOUR RECORDS.
- If you hire a Federal Work Study student – put the job number on the Hiring Authorization Form before forwarding it to the Student Employment Office.
- If you hire a Self Help student – include the job number as a comment on your EPAF. Student EPAFs will not be approved without the job number.
Do I have to fill out a new Job Posting Request Form for the same job each semester?
No, you can simply email the Student Employment Office at hireapirate@ecu.edu with the job number and let us know that you would like to repost that job. You can include any changes you need in that email.
Is this the only way that I can advertise my student job openings?
The Pirate Jobs posting is mandatory, but it is not meant to replace your current job advertising methods. In addition to the Pirate Jobs posting, you are welcome to continue advertising your open positions through flyers, word of mouth, department websites, etc.
The Student Employment Office greatly appreciates your cooperation with this effort. We are confident that this change will make the job search process much easier for our students, as well as increase the number of qualified applicants that you receive. We are happy to assist you with this process. Please direct any questions or concerns you may have to the Student Employment Office at hireapirate@ecu.edu or by calling 252-737-4473.
