2008 National Black Student Leadership Development Conference

Ten East Carolina University students have been selected to attend the 2008 National Black Student Leadership Development Conference that will be held in Washington, DC on January 3-6, 2008.  The conference activities “will invite participants to examine our culture and ourselves in light of the stated dimensions of leadership”, according to conference creator Dr. Carroll F. S. Hardy.  She adds, “The conference will affirm and uplift us as leaders and as human beings; it will equip us with tools to address community and personal issues related to leadership”.

Accompanying the students will be Dr. LE Turner, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Intercultural Student Affairs.   One of the objectives under the mission of the office is to assist multi-ethnic student organizations in their efforts to develop leadership qualities and promote collaboration across the campus with other organizations.  The conference headquarters will be the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.  It annually attracts over 800 student leaders from various two year and four year colleges and universities.
