The Student Diversity Symposium is designed to build cultural skills with a focus on diversity and multiculturalism. The program features diversity education, multicultural experience activities, social events, icebreakers, case study, development theory, and many other experience based programs. Participants are recruited from the East Carolina University student body and are asked that they be willing to commit themselves to elarning more about issues of multiculturalism. This program encourages students to foster respect appreciation and understanding in their experiences at the university as well as in their other student roles.

Latinos in Hip Hop (In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month)

Fabel will conduct a demonstration that explores the presence and contributions made by Latinos in Hip Hop culture. The presentation includes rare footage and audio material that reflect the major impact made by Hip Hop's Latino legends and pioneers. Some material precedes the advent of Hip Hop and comprehensively connects the dots from earlier movements such as Mambo, Bomba, Plena, Salsa, Latin Boogaloo and Latin Soul to what eventually became known as Hip Hop.

All alums of current ECU students will be invited to participate in this annual event during family weekend. An opportunity for us to capture the legacy of ECU through a group photo of both students and parents who have attended East Carolina University.
