Should I attend an Orientation program?
Participation in the orientation program is strongly encouraged for all incoming first-year and transfer students. Orientation is a two-part program. Discover ECU is held during the summer. Explore ECU is held prior to the start of classes in the fall.

Can you go to just a few hours or only one day of an orientation session?
Students need to plan on attending the entire orientation session. It usually lasts for two days.

When will students receive information about orientation?
Registration materials will be mailed to accepted first-year students who have paid their enrollment deposit  by mid-April and accepted transfer students by May 15the.

Once the orientation mailing has been received, when should the reservation form be returned to the Office of Orientation?
We have a limited number of spaces for orientation sessions.  Students and family members are assigned to a session on a first-received, first-served basis.  Therefore, if there is a particular session that is the most convenient for you, please send in your reservation materials as soon as possible.

How does a student know which orientation session he/she has been assigned?
Students who send in a reservation for an orientation session during June or July will receive a confirmation brochure approximately seven to ten days after receipt of the reservation form.  If you do not receive a confirmation within that time frame, please contact our office at 252-328-4173 to check on the status of your reservation form.  Please note that a refund will not be given to students who are assigned a session but do not attend it because they did not receive a confirmation.
