Student Patrol Unit
The Student Patrol Unit is a unit within the East Carolina University Police Department. The unit is comprised of approximately 30 student employees which work between the hours of 7:00 pm and 3:00 am. The Student Patrol Unit works in excess of 375 hours per week. They also work special events, including athletic events.
The Student Patrol Officers provide additional security to the campus by:
· Patrolling and/or securing:
o Academic Buildings
o Administrative Buildings
o Residence Halls
o Medical School/Health Science Complex
o Athletic Complex
o Bicycle Racks
· Providing weekly checks of the Emergency Blue-Light Phones.
· Reporting suspicious activity to the ECU Police Department.
· Providing escorts (walking or riding) as requested through the ECU Police Department or Safe Ride. They can be reached by dialing the Police Department’s non-emergency number 328-6787. This service will not duplicate an ECU Transit Authority bus route. A Student Patrol Officer will walk a student to the bus stop if they feel unsafe.
