Surveys and Results

Graduate Student Exit Survey

The ECU Graduate School sponsors the Graduate Student Exit Survey. It contains many of the questions that are asked on the Graduating Senior Survey so that graduate administrators can compare the opinion of ECU exiting graduate students with those of ECU graduating seniors, and with those of University of North Carolina system-wide graduating seniors.

Graduating Senior Survey

This survey is part of the University of North Carolina – Office of the President’s battery of student surveys. While the survey responses are reported to the Office of the President in alternating years, East Carolina University administers the survey to seniors as they register for graduation on a continuing basis. IPRE prepares separate reports based on the responses of students graduating each December and May. The survey results are a critical part of the campus institutional effectiveness assessment efforts. The results of the survey are funneled to various campus offices and any others specifically mentioned by the responding students. Reports, including written comments, are prepared for academic units and are used in their ongoing assessment efforts. The reports compare the responses of each department’s graduates with the responses of all graduates. All responses are treated in a confidential manner.

Sophomore Survey

This survey is part of the University of North Carolina – Office of the President’s battery of student surveys. While the survey responses are reported to the Office of the President in alternating years, East Carolina University administers the survey to selected sophomores each spring term. The survey results are a critical part of the campus institutional effectiveness assessment efforts. The results of the survey are funneled to various campus offices and any others specifically mentioned by the responding students. The written comments are sorted by topic and reported along with the statistical results. All responses are treated in a confidential manner.

First Year Student Survey

This survey is administered to students during First Year Student Orientation sessions each summer. Some of the survey questions are administered at all 16 UNC institutions in conjunction with The University of North Carolina's Office of the President. The remaining questions are designed to assist ECU faculty and staff in better understanding students and creating programs and services to respond to students' needs.
