The vision is to create a premier center for student leadership & Civic Engagement at East Carolina University

 

The mission of the Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement (CSLCE) is to provide students with meaningful experiences that foster leadership practices and civic engagement through supporting related research, pedagogical strategies and co-curricular opportunities that transforms and empowers students.

The CSLCE operates under the following premises:

  • Leadership is a continual process of understanding who you are and using that knowledge to positively influence yourself, others and society.
  • Civic engagement is a powerful vehicle for developing students' leadership skills
  • Leadership is collaborative process.
  • Leadership is value-based.
  • All students (not just those in formal positions) have the ability to apply leadership practices to real life situations.
