ECUSTA: Summer 2009 Routes

Summer 2009 Bus Service
ECUSTA summer service covers 100% of our regular service area, but there are still some important changes in our operation you should know about. Due to lower ridership during summer sessions, many routes are combined to provide the same reliable service in a more efficient manner. Pirate Express shuttles to the downtown area in particular are more limited. This may result in less frequent service in some areas, but rest assured: the bus (or even the van!) is coming.

The routes listed below represent the summer editions of our regular routes. As part of a cost saving effort, printed maps and schedules will not be distributed to our buses and other campus locations as we have done in the past. However, each route has a map and schedule available for download (PDF format only, Adobe Reader required).

While we're changing things up, we've decided to try out a new format for our schedules. This new format includes complete time tables for every route and every stop, along with individual maps. ROUTES, MAPS & SCHEDULES
The following routes are considered normal service and operate daily (with the exception of 715 Blue) while classes are in session. See individual schedules for more information.

701 Silver / Purple

Operates to cover both the normal 403 Silver and 401 Purple routes, but with a couple of exceptions. Residents of Campus Pointe should look for 705 North Campus Crossing / Campus Pointe. Residents of University Apartments and Village Green on 5th will be served by 702 Brown / Sunchase. Please note that the stop for Village Green on 5th has been relocated behind Village Green; look for the stop sign at the intersection of 4th Street and Cedar Street.

702 Brown / Sunchase

Runs almost identically to 402 Brown, but with the addition of Sunchase apartments normally served by 503 Sunchase.

703 Copper Beech / University Manor / Pirates Cove

Combines three major apartment complexes' express service into one shuttle. An additional peak load shuttle will operate as necessary for the 9:00am round.

704 Campus Shuttle

It's not the 304 Campus Shuttle you're used to! This route circulates through main campus, College Hill and Curry Court (Carol Belk Building). Residents of Stratford Arms should look for this route instead of the regular 620 Curry Court shuttles.

705 North Campus Crossing / Campus Pointe

Almost the same as 505 North Campus Crossing, but with the addition of Campus Pointe apartments.

706 University Suites

Nearly identical to 506 University Suites from the spring semester, but with slightly different operating hours.

707 Health Sciences / Brody School of Medicine

It's 302 Red in every way, except it now hubs out of Christenbury along with most of our other summer routes. Looking for the bus? Watch for a white SafeRide van instead for a more efficient trip in the same reliable manner.

708 The Landing / The Bellamy

504 The Landing and 508 The Bellamy both hubbed at the same location and went the same way, so why not put them together? This summer route combines both for efficiency during these weeks of reduced ridership.

710 Minges Park & Ride

Similar to the spring semester's 610 Minges Park & Ride, but with some important changes. During the summer, the Gold Lot by Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium is often host to parking for special events, so we've removed that stop to avoid any confusion with special event shuttles serving that area. 715 Blue

Same old 303 Blue, totally new operating hours. We've scaled back this convenient "around town" shuttle's time on the road, but it still makes the stops you're used to. Be sure to note the slight time changes for individual stops on the schedule.

PIRATE EXPRESS LATE NIGHT SERVICE
Please note that some apartment complexes have chosen not to partner with ECU Transit to provide Pirate Express service to the downtown area. The following properties will NOT have Pirate Express service this summer:

The Bellamy
University Suites

Please remember that all ECUSTA vehicles are an extension of campus and the same rules apply. No alcohol is permitted onboard any ECUSTA vehicle. Other rules apply; please see our downloadable guide to Pirate Express.

751 Pirate Express: University Manor / Pirates Cove

752 Pirate Express: North Campus Crossing / Sunchase

Just like the name says, this Pirate Express route services North Campus Crossing and picks up Sunchase residents on the way downtown.

754 Pirate Express: The Landing

This dedicated route gets The Landing residents downtown quickly every Friday & Saturday night, but it's not quite the same 904 service from spring. See schedule for details.
