Our Mission
SafeRide serves to facilitate a safe and reliable evening commuting environment in the ECU/Greenville area by providing students, staff, faculty and visitors with a fare-free method of transportation to their homes/residences or vehicles. It also serves to facilitate safe and reliable evening movement around the ECU campus.
Time to Go Home? Call SafeRide.
When the day is done, home is just a phone call away. SafeRide is a point-to-point, demand-response van service operating as a division of ECU Transit. This service works to efficiently supplement the bus system at night to maximize safety after regular daytime service has ended.
Service Area & Operating Hours
To support SafeRide's mission and prevent abuse, service areas are limited. Rides going from campus to campus (including adjacent areas) as well as from campus to off campus locations are always provided. Coming back to campus? Rides originating from off campus locations can only be scheduled before 9:00pm each night. All off campus locations must be located within a quarter mile of an established daytime bus stop. SafeRide dispatchers are unable to schedule rides going from one off campus location to another.
Any deviations from this schedule for holidays or other ECU closures will be posted to the ECU Transit service calendar.
