General Information

• SafeRide operates during the fall and spring semesters each academic year, as well as a limited schedule during both summer sessions.
  
  
• SafeRide does not operate during the holidays or school breaks. Check the schedule for any updates.
  
  
• SafeRide reserves the right to refuse service for cause.
  
  
• ECU Student Transit Authority utilizes the SafeRide vans during the day to transport temporarily handicapped students. They coordinate efforts through the Office of Disability Support Services.
  
  
• SafeRide is operated by East Carolina University students.
  
  
• Riders must be an ECU student, faculty, or staff with a valid ECU 1 Card.
  
  
• Riders are allowed one guest with a valid picture ID.
  
  
• Here’s what happens when you call:
  
  
  • Dial 328-RIDE (7433) and a student dispatcher will answer the phone.
  • The dispatcher will ask you for the pick-up and drop-off locations.
  • Next you will be required to give the name(s) of each rider in your group.
  • You will be given an approximate wait time. Please keep in mind that these are estimated times of arrival and traffic, trains and other impediments could delay the vans.
  • Once the van arrives at your location, they will wait for three minutes and then have to leave to pick up other riders. You will be noted on our log as a "No Show".
  • You will be required to present your ECU 1 Card to the SafeRide employee before boarding the van.
