Awards Description
Aspiring Leader
This award is presented to an outstanding first-year student who has demonstrated service to the university and has shown the ability to become a successful leader. Student nominees must:
- Be currently enrolled at ECU
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the university
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Exemplary Leader
This award is presented to an outstanding student who is known not only for exemplary leadership and service to the university but also for the caring and sharing attitude exhibited through this service. Student nominees must be:
-Be currently enrolled at ECU
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate exemplary leadership and a caring attitude to the University
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Perseverance
This award is presented to a [Graduate and/or Adult Student(Non-Traditional or Traditional) who is 24 years or older] and has juggled significant life responsibilities while maintaining a 3.0 cumulative grade point average while being involved in the ECU community. Student nominees must:
-Be currently enrolled at ECU
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 3.0 or above
- Be 24 years of age or older
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Outstanding Student Organization Leader
This award is presented to a junior or sophomore student who has demonstrated a superior level of leadership and service to the student organization(s) in which he/she holds a leadership position. Student nominees must:
- Be currently enrolled at ECU
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or above
- Have completed requirements to be a sophomore or junior
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Outstanding Senior Leadership
This award is presented to the graduating senior who has consistently worked and succeeded in positively impacting campus life at the university throughout his/her years at East Carolina University. Student nominees must:
-Be currently enrolled at ECU
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or above
- Be a graduating senior
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
Advisor of the Year
This award is presented to honor an ECU Faculty/Staff member who contributes time and expertise in a volunteer advisory capacity to a student organization at East Carolina University. This advisor has performed exceptionally over one or more years. Nominees should have consistently attended organization meetings and events, motivated members to be successful, and developed the leadership potential of the members. Nominees must:
- Currently be a faculty or staff member at ECU
- Have an organization advisor for least one year
- Demonstrate service and leadership
- Possess leadership quality
Student Organization of the Year
This award is presented to a registered student organization that makes a significant contribution through consistent and sustained activities that benefit the community. The organization must:
- Be a currently registered organization
- Be in good standing (i.e., currently registered and absent of disciplinary problems) with the Student Activities Center.
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the university
Unsung Hero
This award is presented to a student who has consistently performed exceptionally in one or more campus organizations without receiving or seeking the notoriety he/she deserves. Student nominees must:
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the university
New Student Organization of the Year
This award is presented to a newly registered student organization that has performed exceptionally over the past year. Nominated organizations promote success among individual members, demonstrate innovation and quality in programs, and make a positive impact on the campus and community. Nominees must:
- Be a currently registered organization
- Be in good standing (i.e., currently registered and absent of disciplinary problems) with the Student Activities Center.
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the University.
Make A Difference
This award is presented to a student who has a continuing commitment to community service as reflected in a variety of programs and initiatives which are responsive to community and social needs and which show evidence of a true partnership with the community. The person should have a longstanding, major commitment to addressing community needs. This commitment should be demonstrated through the development of exceptional programs that go well beyond the traditional service role of academics. The award will highlight community service as an important element of the academic mission, and will single out students that can serve as examples of social responsiveness on the part of the academic community. Student nominees must be:
- Be currently enrolled at ECU
- Have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.5 or above
- Demonstrate service and leadership to the university and community
- Possess characteristics for future leadership success
