Join the CLCE OrgSync Portal to stay up-to-date on all leadership opportunities available! A monthly newsletter is distributed detailing all upcoming events. CLCE believes that leadership is service and service is leadership, but we want to highlight a few specific opportunities in our center.
Service and Leadership Assistants (SLAs): SLAs strive to support a welcoming environment which fosters education through leadership and service. Primary role of the SLA is to support the mission of the CLCE, daily office operation, and sponsored events. Students can be either Federal Work Study eligible (with an award for the current academic year to be considered for a position) or self-help hired based on available funding.
Alternative Break Experiences: East Carolina University Alternative Break Experiences (ABE) are learning opportunities that immerse ECU community members in diverse environments that address social, economic, political, environmental, spiritual, and cultural issues through the exchange of ideas, personal reflection, critical thinking, and applications of academic concepts beyond the classroom. ABE challenges all participants to critically reflect upon their role and ability to make lasting social change in our local, regional, and global community.
Career Leadership Series: CLCE and Career Services host three workshops each semester to guide students in identifying their career passions, translate their experiences for interviews and applications, network with university professionals and community members, and interact with peers.
Chancellor's Student Leadership Academy (CSLA): CSLA is a premier leadership program designed to help emerging leaders develop valuable skills to inspire, empower, and influence positive change. Scholars participate in a 12-week program which includes weekly workshops, participation in national days of service, and common leadership book discussion. Students with 15 credit hours or more are encouraged to apply to this program.
ECU Leads: ECU Leads is a cohort-based program linking leadership learning, campus involvement and civic engagement. The program is intended as a three-stage program, with unique programming related to each stage.
Elite Pirates: The Elite Pirates serve as student representatives of ECU at public events, showing the university's diversity of leadership, dedication, and student commitment to the ideals of the institution. The Elite Pirates are adaptive, resourceful, and responsive to campus needs and current events. They also encourage and mentor emerging ECU leaders through various roles. Elite Pirates host the Social Justice Symposium and Social Justice Week yearly.
